The story of Statelight is the story of four friends linked by a deep passion : the music! Like its members, the music of statelight is spontaneous and immediate : On the first listening, you stamp your foot, on the second, you already hum the hitting tunes. But if the music of Statelight is accessible, it's not devoided of emotion. The voices and the guitars are working together to change the atmosphere from melancholy to joy or rage. On the other side, the bass and the drums are melting together to give the tunes solid and dancing beats. The four members of Statelight are giving all they've got to share their energy and their joy, to deliver their powerful and sensual emotions..
The Ignition :
The Ignition is a Belgian band formed by 5 young musicians aged between 16 and 22 years old. They push themselves to the limit and play concerts and festivals regularly. Already very at ease on stage and always wanting to improve, these 5 youngsters produce music influenced by their idols: Razorlight, The clash, The Kinks, Placebo, The Kooks, REM, Red hot, Pink floyd... The mix between Marie's and Tom's vocals, a well created melodie structure and a rock'n'roll rhythmic section pulls together songs that are just aswell seductive as catchy.
Cecilia Eyes : Founded on the ashes of a conceptual project, Cecilia::eyeS will make echoing its first accents of melodies in 2004. The band concentrates its energy on a music whose temerity stems from the absence of song, contrary to the traditional formations. The meeting between the four members takes place on the crossing of very different musical currents but melody research and the creation of atmosphere remain the conducting wires of each composition. Mainly characterized by sober bass lines, they are however considerably enriched by the superposition of guitar effects as well as the drums rhythms, sometimes discrete, sometimes impetuous. The objective is to alternate take offs and lulls, in a melancholic environment, almost nostalgic, like a dream packed in a thick fog. The music of Cecilia::eyeS is a form of activity in which an absolute quietness and a bubbling energy cross and intermingle in a search of equilibrium.
Wan’s : Wan’s is an association of several musicians who were already active in the eighties. They decided to start a new project in 2004. Their music is made with aggressive and throbbing guitars slicing the pop synthetic background on which they put a tortured voice pushed by a round bass. This continuously moving project becomes more and more important and they are working on the next release.
Shedai : Shedai is formed in Ghent, September 2005. 2 months after, their first demo was recorded (Midas, Lokeren) with Tony de Block (Hooverphonic). Shedai started a new way of making music... more experimental, more dynamic, crazier.... In the summer '06 Shedai worked on their (1 take/2 hours) film project. Shedai is a band that likes to collaborate with other artists.
B-Shake : B-Shake is a real alternative pop rock band, an explosive trinity which brings energy in live and emotion-filled music. Particular guitar tuning modes, unusual chords, expressive vocals and exciting rhythms; They shake all their influences like Placebo, Nickelback, Franz Ferdinand, Nirvana,.. And that’s what makes the music of B-Shake distinguishable from any other band.
Milk The Fish : Fall 2003 has only just spawned 'MILK THE FISH!' and they're already racing from one stage to the next. If the fish can't walk, they crawl: very soon their irresistible 'Rock 'n Grrroll' blows away crowds not only in Belgium but also in France and The Netherlands. Their first EP is released in October 2006. In November 2006 they end up winning the StuBru Poppunt Demopoll. 'MTF!' dishes out - quote - '100 % Natural, Fresh & Fishy Punk rock'. And it looks like nothing or nobody is going to stop them
Snowy Red : Snowy Red is the electro project started in 1980 by Micky Mike (ex-Chainsaw first Belgian punk band) which after several successful album releases is put in standby in 1990. The project is reactivated early 21st century as a duo. Snowy Red has got a lot of influences but for sure has influenced a lot of electro bands.
Naifu : Some girls and boys... here is naifu, formed early. Musically-speaking, naifu cannot be easily categorized: Emo, Post-Grunge, Noise, Pop, Alt. Rock… why not, but not only. The band’s influences include The Pixies, Fugazi, Trail Of Dead, Blonde Redhead and Neurosis. However, the song writing remains consistent and the lyrics are uncompromising. There’s a mixture of sweetness and bitterness, of gentleness and strength, with blurred borderlines, aiming to trigger a feeling of insecurity
Skaarfish : Skaarfish is a guitar rock band born in 1993, during 3 years, they played live gigs as Bunkerrock, support acts for Ashbury Faith, Noordkaap,Soapstone before they stopped. In 2004, Skaarfish came back to live after public demand for one live gig. In between Skaarfish starts its third year and sounds harder, rawer en better than ever.
Phoenix Red : Phoenix Red consists of four Dutch musicians. The four of them have a wide experience in the band circuit. Although they differ in their musical background, there’s one important drive they have in common: the urge to make direct and powerful “straight ahead” rock, balancing on the edge between mainstream and alternative. Influenced by bands like The Doors, Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam and the Stone Temple Pilots. All of this makes Phoenix Red a solid band which finds its expression in their energetic live performances. According to critics “pureness”, “straight forward”, “melodious”, “simplicity” and “self-willed” are terms that describes the music of Phoenix Red. Surrounded by a creative and raw sound.
Be-sides : A summer 2004 evening... and the story begins! After a constant rhythm of rehearsals, the band gives some concerts on small podiums. Confident after these initial meetings with a rather reactive public, the band creates a demo. One can find influences... such as Interpol, Pixies, The Catholics, Weezer and the Strokes etc... Nevertheless, the quartet wants to keep above all its own already well defined musical impression. Smooth Groove, weighing rhythms, incisive melodies are the atmospheres that one can find through the Be-Sides titles. Be-Sides is above all a band of friends who like to play together. Musically, the band does not move far from to the current Rock movement.
The Green Bees : When three students of the animation movie section of the Art Academy of Ghent, in autumn 2005 discovered the legendary East Flemish garage rock band Cyriel and The Invalids, they decided to search for the roots of east flemish rock scene. They found Cyriel in a garage where he was computing all days long. They convinced him to get back on his guitar and to jam together. And that’s how The Green Bees were born. The Green Bees go back to the basics of rock. Simple and raw riffs, pounding drums, a growling bass and primalscream vocals. Animallike music as nature intented.
Cases :
Cases with their progressive soft pop rock attract rapidly your attention. And also as young band, cases took everything in hands with some words:"The youngest don't ever have to be the worst". Their two songs "What a world" and "Nobody knows" surprised directly a large public. You keep it in mind so fast and “What a World, What a world we’re living” are sentences which will come back regularly. A band to keep an eye on it! Cases, Music Controls our life! Smile and listen!
