From 2004 till September 2006, they played under the name Amnesia. The music was instrumental and very conventional, so some labelled their music ‘Post-Rock’. After touring around during nine months, the first music demo was materialized under the name Amnesia. In August 2005, they decided to make some time for their music and to work on a second set. Then they welcomed two new members: a sax-player and a drummer. At present time, the group consists of Laurent (Guitar), Thierry (Guitar & Synthesiser), Adrien (Cello), Amaury (Saxophone), Julien (Piano & Synthesiser), Fred (Bass guitar) and Seb (Drums)
In June 2006, they’ve recorded and auto-produced a new EP named: ‘The Fine Decadance’. Then they’ve decided to continue their musical journey under the name Doktor Caligari . The group wants to express the same madness in their music as in the famous movie of Rober Wiene…
The members of Doktor Caligari are musically influenced by a great range of styles and composers. They extract their ideas from classical music till electronic music (such as Chopin, Jonny Greenwood, D.A.A.U., Sigur Ros, Archive, The Cinematic Orchestra, Jagga Jazzist, …). With the music of Doktor Caligari they want to express lots of different feelings. The melody tends from gentle, sad, through uncertain colours and changing moods. All of this, melted in a higher atmosphere with some Jazzy and Funky aspects, gives the unique sound of Doktor Caligari.
Doktor Caligari enacts tensions, unpredictability, complexity of a cello, a saxophone and a piano. They explore the detail of blended nuances and changeable structures that move the listener to pleasant and emoting moments.
Their concerts started in January 2005 on Bear Rock Indoor 1.0 (Andenne).
