ImageDOMGUè breathes into a saxophone, on stage with his sound designer and mixer OM. Together they a warm electro groove making you swing, jazz, trip, hop and funk you brother! His style is called Jumpslap.

DOMGUè is a nickname he received while living in the ghettos of Haiti where he served, working for an NGO, the two years of mandatory non-military duty. The shantytowns living in Haiti drew him away from his predestined career as an engineer, although he graduated with honors.

The saxophone however entered his life rather early: at the age of 13. “I did everything according to the rules, says Domguè, I was a disciplined pupil of the classical music school, having no fun while practicing my instrument”.

DOMGUè played with all types of band, from jazz to rock or even pop. He refuses to be labeled “jazz musician” even though he takes his inspiration from the free jazz spirit that was the heart of jazz in its early days. He is a great fan of indie and soul music.

In the early 90's, DOMGUè decided to settle in Belgium, in the city of Liège (one hour drive from Brussels). He works his music within the underground movement and participates in various project such as “Back To Normal”, a big band of 20 musicians, directed for a short while by Sax Ted Milton (UK).

“To walk your own way means you are the master of your destiny and you grow richer and fuller knowing other human beings”, says DOMGUè pleading for sincerity and humanism in every step of the way in his life. Therefore, he asked the French controversial stand up comedian Dieudonné to become his “artistic godfather”, sharing the same criticism of racism in society and expressing it with a dry sense of humor (Picture taken in Brussels in January 2005).

Mamadok (self produced by Rinawêch, cd’s are only sold at gigs) was released last December 2004. Very few titles of Mamadok are not sung in imaginary language on the album. “I take a stand in breaking so called conventional attitudes. Let imagination in each one of us speak a universal tongue”. Indeed, in its music which amalgamates jazzy funky and technogrooves DOMGUè invites you to wander in its universe, a surreal place on earth, inspired by women called “Mamadok” (by opposition to Haiti's tyran called Papa Doc). Mamadok even appears on stage in the imaginary world of this crazy sax master, a mood is created on stage letting each one free of sound and thoughts wanderings. Today, DOMGUè brings his talent of sound arranger to the album “Western” of Zop Hopop or Al Harmonized, or completely composes the music of a CREAHM scene production (“Mountain Table”). An outstanding stage performance at the Francofolies Festival 2002 in Belgium (Spa) was the kick-off of a series of concerts in Wallonia and gained DOMGUè public support from the Cultural services of the Liège Province as well as Wallonie-Bruxelles Musiques
